6. Zero screen week-end 4/4
After the negative feelings and the anger towards the parents (well, let us be honest here, towards parent number 1: mum đ) had relented , the imagination started taking over. In our household this often takes place in the kitchen. So singing daughter became cooking daughter and immediately put on some really loud music then announced that she had dinner sorted.
The menu:
- Burgers with home-made buns (family computer was allowed here to show recipe! )
- Caramelised onion compote
- Lime and yogurt dip
- Paprika potato wages
'No salad ? ...' I asked timidly.
'No. No salad.' She replied. 'And don't complain.' She added. 'Your kids don't like salad so at least they will be no one fussing at table.'
I said nothing. I sometimes know to keep my mouth shut!đŹ
So we gathered happily around the table and the kids argued, and we commented on the food and the screen issue was forgotten.
Food is the great solution to many problems. World leaders don't eat well enough during summits, I reckon.
After dinner, all were allowed to use their pieces of equipment: 'to communicate with the outside world' I was told.
Then singing/cooking daughter said: 'Don't worry! I will leave my computer and my phone downstairs tonight!' And she did! It may sound silly but I was happy and relieved that she was going to get a good night sleep.
No binge-watching Casa de Grandpa or Peaking Blinding Criminals ...
One reader (Yesss, I have got readers!)has shown me a picture her friend took. It was a photo of a laundry basket. Hidden in the dirty socks and tees were a couple of iPhones and oh dear what looked like a PlayStation complete with controllers!
I am not alone. We are not alone.
Just hope that lot didn't get into the washing machine!
Mum: 3 Kids:2
OK not a clear win for mum but I will definitely have an other weekend like this.
