115. The Great Cellar Project (1)

Today's a bank holiday and surprisingly ... we are all at home!
Just as surprisingly, it is cold and pouring with rain.

'What are we going to do? Think of a project the family can bond.

'Shop online?'

'Bake (more) cakes?'

'Just chill and do nothing?'

'Read real books made out of paper?'

'Do homework?'

'Build (another) skateboard ramp?'

'Plan a big huge wild party for when all this is over?'

'Get the car ready for TGA?'

'I have a better idea.' I say, partly to stop this flow of nonsense. 'I think we need to go down in the cellar.'

They all stop talking and look at me.

'You know I've been wanting to knock down that partition wall to get access to the second, much older cellar. ... And there's also that blocked passage on the righthand side.'

'Oh yes! There might be skeletons!'

'A treasure chest full of gold coins!'

'A nasty monster that will cast a spell on you.'

'Weapons from the last war?'

'The passage way might be a tunnel that will take us to England!'

'Scotland!'

'Well, there is one way to find out ... but we need some kind of heavy duty drill ...'

'I can get one ... ' My husband says, adding, much to my surprise.

'That's a good idea. We need to know why they condemned that front cellar. And it'd be good to get some air to it.'

'But is we knock it down, maybe the whole house is going to collapse?'

'Maybe ... and then again maybe not. There's only one way to find out!'
