86. A whiff of adventure (4)

Life is quiet these days. This is boring. So to spice things up a bit I ask my husband.

'Remember lockdown?'

'Yes, why?'

'Remember you had a lot of time on your hands ... and ... little work ... and you ... did browse some websites ...?'

A noise comes back as a reply. Was that the dog?

'Do you remember? ... You did say something about taking up a hobby? You did some research about a vehicle ...'

An other noise. Definitely not the dog. So I ask the question.

'Do you want a cup of tea?'

The word 'tea' in my English husband's ears does wonders. He looks up  and says:

'Yes, please!'

Got him! This time he is fully aware of my trying to have a conversation with him. My voice goes a tad louder. A tad more directive. The school teacher in me comes back to life.

'So, this project? You don't speak to me about it anymore!'

'I told you, we are waiting for it to be registered. It takes a while. Even longer these days ...'

Maybe drinking tea makes you patient, I should try and drink more tea.

'Well! It is being done, isn't?'

'Definitely! Shouldn't be much longer now.'

'Good! Because I am getting impatient! I am ready for that project now! Got a little crazy idea of mine that you will definitely like.'

'Tell me!'

'Not yet. I will tell you when it looks a bit more real.'

'All right. Tomorrow I will ring this guy. Move him on a bit.'

He gets up, puts his cup of tea in the sink and says good night.
