335. Away they go

 ‘Is it me or is everyone running away from here? I’ve got this Titanic feeling.’

My husband turns towards me and looks puzzled.

‘ What do you mean?’

‘ Well … our son is thinking about moving to Wales, Miss Organiser is about to settle in a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Muddy Boots thinking about Italy and Baby dreaming of shaking cocktails in New Zealand … ‘

‘Putting it like that then yes, it does seem a bit … ‘

‘Im just putting it the way it is. I mean where did the parenting go wrong? What did we do?’

‘What about us telling them about the great African Adventure?’

I’m pondering this. It’s true we do go on about it a lot. And they’ve been following every step, from vehicle improvement to shakedown and midnight picnic trips.

‘But I wouldn’t say it’s bad. I would say it’s excellent, they are confident, adventurous and want to make th most of life on this planet. What’s wrong with that?’
