384. Teachers need training (3)
By the time my phone was charged enough to enable Google Maps to guide me I had taken a random route, racking my brains for which direction to take to get where I was supposed to get to. Luckily soon a petrol station appeared on my road and I filled up. I headed off into a really really round-about way to get to the motorway and no way was I going to admit that to anyone.
Luckily I has the motorway beep thingy in the car and I raced across the toll, sniggering at the car next to me who did not have the beep thingy which means you can go trough the toll gate at 30 km/hour. Once I was on the motorway I was engulfed in a see a thick grey fog with huge lorries everywhere sounded their foghorns at me. The drizzle and the wind and the flooded landscapes all around me made me slow down a little. I glance at the app and noticed I was late already. I did not care. I was going to get there eventually but I did the responsible thing (a feather to my cap) and stopped to warn the school I was going to be late. Very late.
'It's all right.' A friendly voice answered. 'There seem to be all sorts of transport problems this morning, so don't worry!'
I was surprised and pleased to hear that there were real transport problems this morning.
'Yes, I don't know what it is today but it's crazy!'
And I added a second feather to my cap for being such a good actress when the situation required it of me. I headed off again into the dreadful driving conditions and made sure I was on the look-out for a drive-through Costa Coffee (no chance this side of the Channel) and maybe a Dunkin' Donut (no chance this side of the Atlantic) so my stomach would not grumble all morning. Then I thought there surely would be coffee and biscuits to greet us. And maybe the other teachers would leave some for us people who had to face the dreadful transport situation.
