386. Up so early!
Either I am going mad and then this blog is not fulfilling its role or I am undergoing a big change of personality or something. It is 5:46 AM and I am downstairs in the kitchen. What makes it even more surprising is that I have not slept a wink. Our dog is a bit under the weather and he has been whingeing and whimpering all night (he's a male dog). I must also admit that I was also a little glad to be kept awake as my son was working his first night in a bar on the town square. So mummy was waiting up for him. All in all it's been a hectic night. That and the aurora borealis.
So here I am in the kitchen typing away, drinking white tea, wondering why these days tea comes in different colours like tee-shirts or socks, getting up and down to open the door so our dog can have a drink or a cry or a breath of fresh air and pondering life in general.
While I am having these philosophical thoughts all by myself (tried the dog but as he's under the weather) and chopping garlic and ginger and turmeric and onions. I may as well put this time to good use. The weather is absolutely gorgeous and I feel inspired. For lunch it will be king prawns on the BBQ and spicy rice my way and a green salad. Hopefully my son will still be sleepy enough not to scream in horror at the green salad. He has grown up a bit but he is still horrified at any green food. I do not check the drawers of the table anymore to see if he has hidden the greens in there. I still remember that day when he was left on his own in front of his pate to finish his greens and how I had praised him when he told me he'd been a good boy and eaten them all up. Only to find the greens later in the drawer. Did the girls point me in the direction? Probably. He looked like the perfect angel, all blond air and blue eyes, teary eyes and sulky face and I thought he had eaten them because he knew his mother knew what was best for him.
I might even make pâte sablée and make a tarte aux framboises or a tarte aux fraises since I'm up so early. I might make a habit of getting up really early. Maybe.
The smell of garlic - or ginger - is having a soothing effect on Ralph (the male whimpering dog) as he has fallen into a heavy slumber and is snoring away. Apart from the snoring the house is silent, the birds who sing so loud when I am in bed not wanting to get up are quiet now, the sky is pale blue with a few puffy pink cotton candy clouds and in the air the subtle scent of roses.
An other benefit from being up early is that I can catch up with Miss Organiser but it turns out she is too busy and I get a picture of a beach with blue water and blue skies and the same pink cotton candy clouds!
Maybe I'll go back to bed.
